Terms of Service
These terms cover your use of LokaScript Learn. They are written to be read, not to be survived. If something is unclear, ask at support@textshelf.com rather than guessing.
Agreement to these terms
By using LokaScript Learn you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use it.
You must be at least 13 years old to create an account yourself. If you are younger, you may use the service only through a school or institution that has enrolled you and supervises that use.
What the service is
LokaScript Learn teaches programming and natural language together, through a multilingual command syntax that compiles to JavaScript. It offers a playground, generated exercises, spaced repetition, guided lessons, and class management for instructors.
It is in private beta. Registration may require an invitation code. Features may change, move, or be withdrawn. We make no uptime commitment, and you should not build anything you depend on around it yet.
Your account
Give us a real email address you control — it is how we reach you and how you recover access.
You are responsible for what happens under your account and for keeping your credentials to yourself. Tell us at security@textshelf.com if you think someone else has access. One account per person.
Instructor access is granted when you create your first class, or through an organisation invitation. Obtaining or sharing access you were not granted — an enrollment code, an organisation invite, an instructor claim code — to reach data or features intended for someone else is a breach of these terms. Failed attempts are logged.
Acceptable use
Do not:
- Scrape the site, automate drilling, or otherwise generate load that is not a person learning.
- Circumvent the beta gate, enrollment codes, rate limits, or role checks.
- Enter other people's personal information into exercise answers, scene builders or chat. Those fields are for practice text; they are visible to your instructor and processed by an AI provider.
- Do anything unlawful, harassing, or infringing, or upload anything you do not have the right to.
- Reverse engineer the service, or resell access to it.
AI-assisted features
The tutor hints, the chat modes and any generated lesson plan are produced by a language model. They can be wrong. Grammar judgements, translations and answer scoring are automated and are not authoritative — treat them as a study aid, not as a grade or a reference.
Instructors: review any AI-generated lesson plan before putting it in front of a class. It is your lesson, not the model's.
Do not submit sensitive personal data to these features.
Your content
You keep ownership of everything you write. You grant TextShelf LLC the limited licence needed to store, process and display it in order to operate the service for you and, where applicable, your instructor.
Two things are worth stating plainly because they are not obvious from the interface:
- Scenes shared out of the Scene Builder encode their contents in the link. Anyone with the link can read the scene. Treat a shared scene link as public.
- Submitting a testimonial gives us permission to publish it, with the name, role and institution you supplied. We will contact you at the email address you give before publishing anything. Ask us to remove it at any time and we will.
Classroom and institutional use
Instructors may view, export and grade the work of students enrolled in their class, and may not use rosters or student work for anything outside that course.
Institutions are responsible for their own notice and consent obligations toward their students, and for who they grant instructor access to. See the "For schools and institutions" section of the privacy policy.
Third-party content and attribution
The book track adapts material from Hypermedia Systems by Carson Gross, Adam Stepinski and Deniz Akşimşek. It is adapted, not reproduced, carries attribution on every page, and is gated behind a feature flag pending the authors' approval. Their work remains theirs.
LokaScript packages, htmx and other open-source components are used under their own licences. Nothing here grants you rights in them.
Fees
The service is free during the beta.
Any pricing shown on the site is indicative and is not an offer. Paid plans, if and when they exist, will require a separate agreement, and we will give notice well before anything you use starts costing money.
Suspension and termination
You may delete your account at any time from /settings. If you teach a class that has students enrolled, you will be asked to transfer or archive it first — other people's records are attached to it and deleting your account cannot take them with it.
We may suspend or terminate an account that breaches these terms, and we will tell you why unless doing so would compromise an investigation.
What happens to your data on termination is described in the privacy policy.
Disclaimers
The service is provided as is, without warranties of any kind to the extent the law allows.
Specifically: we do not warrant any educational outcome, any exam or certification result, the linguistic correctness of generated sentences, or the accuracy of automated answer scoring. It is a practice tool.
Limitation of liability
To the extent permitted by law, TextShelf LLC is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost profits, data or goodwill.
Our total liability arising out of or relating to the service is limited to the greater of US$100 or the fees you paid us in the 12 months before the claim.
Nothing here excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded — including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.
Indemnity
You will indemnify TextShelf LLC against claims arising from your breach of these terms, your misuse of the service, or content you submitted that you did not have the right to submit.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of the District of Columbia, USA, and the courts of the District of Columbia, USA have jurisdiction over disputes arising from them.
There is no arbitration clause and no class-action waiver in these terms.
Changes to these terms
These terms are effective 11 August 2026. We may update them; if a change is material we will give notice on the site before it takes effect. Continuing to use the service after that means you accept the updated terms.
